Your pet will receive a physical exam the morning of surgery, which will check on the heart, respiration rate, temperature and overall health of the animal. Pre-anesthetic blood testing is then performed on your pet prior to surgery to ensure your pet can properly process and eliminate an anesthetic. Blood tests will also confirm that your pet’s organs are functioning properly and help to find hidden health conditions that could put your pet at risk. In addition, IV fluids are also administered during surgery. The benefit of I.V. fluids is that it provides direct access to the bloodstream in the event of an emergency. The fluids provide support for the heart, ensure good blood supply to all organs, and decrease recovery time. During the procedure a registered veterinary technician will be continually monitoring heart and respiratory rates, blood pressures, and other vital signs to help prevent any anesthetic risk. We also provide appropriate pain medication during recovery & to go home with to ensure your pet stays comfortable during the healing.
