Pain management is not just for surgical patients, many other patients can be experiencing pain. That which is most commonly overlooked tends to be chronic pain (i.e. arthritis). This tend to present as a slow and gradual change, so can often be attributed to old age.
We feel a multimodal approach to pain management works best, so besides medication, we have RVTs who have taken rehabilitation courses which can aide with pain management. One of our doctors is also certified in acupuncture, which can aide in pain management for certain conditions.
